**Welcome to IronFurs! **My name's Harland, and I'm happy to introduce you to the local furry community! We're a group based in Belfast dedicated to bringing the community together whether it's through events, meet ups or online hubs.

Originally founded in 2018 by Huckleberry Husky as a bowling meet, we grew to become a community hub within NI and have been passionate about arranging monthly meet ups ever since. We enjoy nothing more than supporting the local furry community and talents which surround it, you may even see us attending the local comic, anime and gaming conventions throughout the year.

Where do we find you?

Good question!
IronFurs are primarily Belfast based, however we do hold meetups in various places like Portaferry, Portrush, Carrickfergus depending on what events may be on at the time.

To keep up to date on our meetup arrangements and events, please check out our social medias where we post news, announcements and updates.

Frequently Asked Questions

When and where are the meet ups?
Usually, meet ups are once a month and always held on Saturday in a public location accessible by public transport. Meets are mainly held in the Belfast area, however we do have plans to travel further for more specific events like aquariums and museums. A poll is held on Telegram to gauge interest and work out which dates work best for most attendees. All meets will always have at least one admin present.

**Do I need a fursuit or costume to attend the IronFur meet ups?
Not at all! Just come in your normal clothes and if you wish to costume, feel free! Please do keep a spare bag with you incase you need to change clothes or if a premises does not allow masks ect passing through on our journeys. Please respect the venues we are in and put all litter in bins provided at the premises. Please do not bring props that resemble weapons or wear any military themed costumes.

Is there a minimum age?
You must be at least 16 years old at the time of the meet. There will be no exceptions to this rule and you will be asked to leave if you are underage.
** **Do I need to pay a fee or charge for events or membership?
No membership required! You do not need to pay to attend meets, however; we may have some meets that have special events like cinema screenings, brunches or museums that will require a ticket or entry fee depending on the premises or event. You must pay for your own travel and food, do not expect others to pay for you.

Do I need ID?
It is always recommended that you bring ID with you for events that may be age sensitive, such as movies or areas that are age specific. If you fail to bring ID and are refused entry to any event, unfortunately we will be unable to challenge the venue management.

Can I bring food or drink?
Absolutely! During picnic meets this is encouraged, however some venues will not allow entry to outside food and drink so please respect the rules of the venue and bring a backpack if you wish to save personal snacks until later.

What about alcohol?
Consumption of alcohol is strictly discouraged at meets as individuals younger than 18 may be present and may be deemed inappropriate. We want our meets to be safe for all attendees, therefor anyone caught bringing or giving alcohol to others may be reprimanded. The only exception for this rule can be after the scheduled meet when attendees over 18 will often head to a pub, bar or at a meet that is 18+ only such as a special event.

I want to take photos and videos of the event, am I allowed to?
You may take videos and photos as long as you have permission from those who are in the photo. If someone does not wish to be in the photo, please respect thier wish and give everyone the appropriate amount of personal space. Always ask permission before posting images on your social medias. We may ask for copies of photos/videos for advertisement purposes for our social media pages, if anyone would like thier faces blurred do let an admin know and that can be arranged.

Can I bring a friend?
As long as they are respectful and follow the rules, you are more than welcome to have a friend accompany you to the meet.

I have concerns or bad experiences with an individual in the group, what can I do?
If you have had a bad experience with a meet attendee, please contact an admin with the appropriate information and we will conduct an anonymous review with the person involved and action may be taken.

To fully embrace that we do have official rules and conduct people must follow whilst using our channels.Rules may differ across platforms due to certain features, so ensure you are reading the correct page to get the most out of your experience!** **
Please understand that IronFurs is a local based group, people from the North and South of Ireland are free to join. People from surrounding areas (eg. Wales, England) may also join if they are actively planning to visit the country or attend events such as local conventions. We unfortunately do not allow international people to join the group on a casual standard as we were created to bring local people together. We apologise for any confusion this may cause.

Meet Rules

All meets are strictly 16+, anyone younger than 16 will be told to leave and are not permitted to attend. Disregarding this rule is a serious offence.When coming to a meet please have consent from your parent/guardian. Emergency contact numbers may be requested if you are under 18.The consumption and purchase of alcohol and other drugs is not permitted at meets.Do not put on or touch a members fursuit without permission.Please ask permission to either touch someone (e.g. a fursuiter) or to touch someone’s belongings.When out on public meets please be respectful of the surroundings and the people as we representing the furry community.If a person wishes to not have their photo taken at meets please respect their wishes.If you have any medical requirements e.g. epilepsy, allergies and etc. Please inform an admin prior to the meet.

DisclaimerAnyone planning to attend meets are required to bring their own money, food and arrange their own means of transport; failure to do so may result in the inability to join the activity planned for the meet. Attending a meet while a ban is in place (or bringing a banned member) is considered an offense and a major rulebreak that will be taken seriously, this will result in a strike (or two strikes if the offender has had one previously) and may result in a ban in extreme cases. If a banned member repeatedly attempted to attend private events, they may be reported for harassment to the security of the establishment.

If any rules are broken they will be dealt with accordingly which may result in a members account being restricted within the groups chat, privileges such as roles or access to certain channels may be revoked. If rules are continuously broken this will result in removal from the group. If the member believes an action was unjust, they are free to appeal to the other admins via PM, however it is not guaranteed to fall within the members favour. All reports are fully confidential between the individual and the admin team, eg, the person being reported will not be told who issued the report.
